Excerpts from, "Confirming the Pastoral Call," by Joseph Umidi. (It's in our library and I have a copy I would gladly loan)
Would you like to know what decisions you could make in choosing a Pastor, even if your main participation is attending services? I would humbly recommend this book to any who desire to be in ministry and or be lead to do ministry, or even just to support your leaders. As a church, everyone could gain from this book, or at least, the perspective it provides.
"Part 1 helps churches and pastors prepare for a successful match through relationship renewal.
Par 2 is written from the perspective of the church that is looking for a new leader, and
Part 3 is written for the benefit of the pastoral candidate."
Then the author recommends, "regardless of which side of the procedure you are on, you should read all sections in order to understand your own role and to see the process from the other side's perspective. It is enlightening. As I read, I can see how I can support the church and leadership in small ways and big ways. I can also see how God will use this process to grow our church and for our own personal growth.
I have been so inspired by the perspective that this book gave me that I want to be able to make it allowable for everyone to share this, even if they can't read the book. I am going to summarize each subject and try to examine some ways of application for our church. I don't know if I'll go by chapter or by some other method, but I hope I can effectively communicate things and maybe benefit someone.
You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another. 1 Pet. 5:5

Great! I can read your summaries of the chapters. I don't have time to read the book at the moment but I hear it is really good.
